APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN - Apply now to be a Trustee at LGBT Foundation

Are you ready for a new challenge, where you can make a real difference by helping one of the most exciting charities in the country to continue its life-saving, life-affirming work?

We’re recruiting new board members. At LGBT Foundation we believe in a fair and equal society where all lesbian, gay, bi and trans people can achieve their full potential. We campaign for equality and deliver a huge range of vital services to LGBT people.

We are seeking people who can help us drive forward the vision of LGBT Foundation over the coming years. We’re looking for people who are passionate about LGBT rights and want to join us on our journey of achieving equality, promoting safety and encouraging wellbeing.

We want to increase trans representation on the board. Many folks in these communities often feel marginalised and alone, from those outside the LGBT community, and even from within.

We have some significant developments and opportunities that we need strong representation from our trans siblings to make sure it's as brilliant as it should be including our new service the Indigo Gender Service which is a localised and person-centred primary care led partnership that sets the national standard and enables trans, non-binary and gender variant people to reach their full potential.

We are also looking to have the right skills on the board, so if you have experience in accountancy, sales or income generation, housing or political understanding, then please consider applying. However, if you don’t have these specific skills please don’t rule yourself out.

Trustees are responsible for the governance and strategic direction of the charity, and there are certain roles and responsibilities that all trustees will be required to undertake. Being a trustee is a voluntary role, but we do pay reasonable travel and subsistence expenses. If you think you could join us and help make a real difference to the lives of LGBT people, please read the Trustee Recruitment Pack for more information and find out how to apply.

To apply, please email a cover letter (of no more than two sides of A4), outlining why you think you’re right for the board, along with an up-to-date CV and the monitoring form. Send your application to [email protected] using the email header “Trustee Recruitment”.

The closing date for applications is 23rd October 2020. Interviews will take place week commencing 2nd November 2020, with offers made the following week with a view to new trustees being confirmed at our AGM on Saturday 21st November 2020.

You can also contact Olivia Butterworth, LGBT Foundation Co-chair, on [email protected] for more information.
